Atika Shukla is a Counselling Psychologist with over 20+ years of experience supporting individuals and couples through emotional, relational, and life challenges. She is passionate about helping people break through internal barriers and build greater resilience, connection, and well-being in their personal and professional lives.
Atika has worked extensively with adults facing concerns such as anxiety, depression, stress, self-esteem issues, relationship difficulties, marital conflict, parenting challenges, and major life transitions. She has supported more than 5,000+ clients across diverse backgrounds and currently works with several international organisations through Employee Assistance Programmes (EAPs), providing mental health support to employees in a confidential and non-judgmental setting.
Her therapeutic style is person-centred, collaborative, and grounded in empathy. Atika believes in creating a safe space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to explore their emotions, patterns, and choices. She integrates evidence-based approaches and practical tools to help clients develop emotional insight, improve communication, and navigate challenges more effectively.
Atika has a strong interest in couples therapy and is trained in Gottman Couples Therapy (Level 3). She has supported couples with communication difficulties, conflict management, infidelity recovery, and transitions such as becoming parents, including work informed by the Bringing the Baby Home programme. She believes that meaningful and secure relationships are central to overall well-being and impact how individuals show up at work and in their wider communities.
She holds a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from Amity Institute of Behavioural & Allied Sciences and is a member of the Singapore Association for Counselling. Atika is also the founder of Breaking Barriers, a mental health practice in Singapore focused on providing accessible, stigma-free psychological support.
Atika speaks English and Hindi and is culturally sensitive, having lived and worked with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds. She is deeply committed to normalising conversations around mental health and believes emotional well-being deserves the same priority as physical health.
