Wai Mun’s career in psychology began with her own journey of healing, which grew into a meaningful life’s work dedicated to supporting others through life challenges and personal growth. She is especially drawn to working with communities affected by trauma and has been privileged to work with organisations supporting refugees, Indigenous communities, and underprivileged groups. She is deeply passionate about helping couples transform their relationships by exploring the unique “relational dance” between partners. By guiding individuals to look at their inner, personal patterns, she helps couples understand how these dynamics shape their interaction, to build a deeper and more genuine connection.
Through her work with Employee Assistance Programmes (EAP) for the past six years, she has provided crisis support, offered counselling and coaching to employees and their families, and supported managers in promoting workplace wellbeing. These experiences have shown her the quiet strength people have as they cope in the best ways they know how.
Wai Mun’s therapeutic approach is integrative of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Choice Theory Reality Therapy (CTRT), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). Recognising that not everyone can easily put their inner experiences into words, she includes creative approaches such as metaphoric cards to facilitate access to subconscious thoughts and feelings, explore emotional themes, and build greater self-awareness.
Wai Mun sees people as the experts of their own lives and already have the capacity to heal and grow. Her focus is to help them gain insight, build practical skills, and develop trust in themselves so they feel more confident and equipped to manage future challenges independently. She holds onto the belief that progress is progress, no matter how small.
