Matt is a registered counsellor who works primarily with youth, young adults and adults experiencing stress, anxiety, emotional distress, workplace challenges, and life transitions. He provides counselling in a calm, collaborative, and non-judgmental space, supporting clients to better understand their internal patterns and develop healthier ways of coping with life and work demands.
Matt’s therapeutic approach is integrative, with a strong foundation in Choice Theory Reality Therapy (CTRT), complemented by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Gottman Couples Method (Level 1 & 2) and mindfulness-based practices. He supports exploration of relationship and communication-related concerns. His work focuses on strengthening emotional regulation, clarifying values, improving communication, and supporting clients in making practical, self-directed changes aligned with their goals. His approach is structured yet flexible, balancing reflection with forward-focused strategies.
He has experience supporting clients through Employee Assistance Programmes (EAP), community mental health settings, and private practice. Matt commonly works with concerns such as burnout, work-related stress, interpersonal difficulties, self-esteem issues, LGBTQIA+-related challenges and adjustment to personal or professional transitions. He adopts a strengths-based and culturally sensitive approach, recognising the impact of both internal experiences and external systems on well-being.
Before transitioning into counselling, Matt worked in professional and community settings, which deepened his understanding of workplace pressures, performance expectations, and the challenges people face in balancing multiple life roles. This background informs his work with clients who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected from their sense of agency.
Matt believes that meaningful change occurs when people feel understood, supported, and empowered to take ownership of their choices. He is committed to ongoing professional development and reflective practice, and strives to provide counselling that is ethical, grounded, and sustainable for long-term well-being.
